Location: Saint Joseph Missouri

Respiratory Therapist

General: Performs customer service functions associated with the sale, rental, and delivery of home medical equipment products. Primarily dispenses and completes follow up on all respiratory equipment such as: Ventilators, Bi-PAP’s, CPAP’s, Oxygen, etc. Assists in the promotion of HME services and products.

Reports to:

Branch Manager â€" This position operates as scheduled by management. Performance will be reviewed monthly or more frequently with senior management to ensure performance goals are met.

Position works closely with the Intake and Management to ensure efficiency in routes and scheduling

Responsibilities
and Duties:

1. Maintaining an accurate and efficient workflow for processing respiratory orders and related documentation.
2. A working knowledge of computer system to include order entry, inventory, notes, report writing and accounts receivable.
3. Assisting with obtaining all required documentation, authorizations, verifications, and waivers for proper payment of respiratory products.
4. Responsible to respond in a timely manner to requests for additional information, and to investigate problems and resolve with appropriate staff.
5. Evaluates clients’ medical requirements and places appropriate equipment to meet the clien! t’s needs at home. Also discusses Medicare and Insurance req! uirements and coverage with the client’s families, physicians and other parties concerned.
6. Obtains verbal orders from physicians and obtains and completes initial paperwork and communicates order with the intake department for insurance coverage, authorizations, etc.
7. Assisting with placing orders for equipment and ongoing supplies through warehouse department.
8. Initiates, schedules and completes follow-up phone calls, assessments and home visits for Ventilators, Bi-PAP’s, CPAP’s and other respiratory equipment. Assesses clients’ tolerance, compliance and satisfaction regarding equipment in use as necessary.
9. Assisting with deliveries and set-ups as requested by Branch Manager.
10. Assisting with inventory control of therapy products and assure that warehouse is a safe, organized, efficient environment.
11. Maintaining confidentiality of all customer charts and secure files at close of business day.
12. Auditing customer charts a! ccording to company guidelines. Assist with completing reports as requested.
13. Providing support and assistance to other departments as needed.
14. Maintaining clean, neat, and orderly work area.
15. Being on call per company policy.
16. Attending in-store meetings.
17. Performing other duties as deemed appropriate by management.

Qualifications
Physical:

1. In an average 8 hour day the employee lifts/carries up to 100 pounds frequently.
2. In an average 8 hour day the employee stands/walks 4 hours.
3. In an average 8 hour day the employee sits 6 hours. (These hours include up to 2 hours of data entry/phone work and significant driving)
4. In an average 8 hour day the employee must be able to drive up to the entire shift as required by management.
5. Must be clean and neat in personal appearance.
Education:
1. Registered, registry eligible or equivalent training and experience Respiratory Therapist.
2. Require! d professional accreditations

Experience/Knowledge/Personality:1. Able to function as a polite and cooperative team member with a positive attitude.
2. Good computer skills preferred, clerical skills are necessary to complete activities associated with daily operations.
3. Proficient verbal skills are essential as communicating with clients, families, physicians, nurses and other team members and the public is frequent.
4. Above average organizational skills.
5. People sensitive characteristics with a desire to help others.
6. Able to work independently.
7. Excellent driving record required.

On Call:
1. Will be available for non-office hours and on call schedule.
2. Willing to be trained in pertinent areas of equipment and supplies.
3. Available for home/office visits
