Location: Chesterfield Missouri

Description: St. Luke's Hospital - Missouri is presently looking of Lead-Cardiac Sonographer PT Days right now, this career will be placed in Missouri. Summary: Performs the primary functions of a Cardiology Sonographer performing cardiology testing and procedures. As Lead Sonographer, provides cli! nical oversight for sonography staff and clinical/technical advice regarding equipment, ultrasound imagery, and technique. The Lead Sonographer will serve as clinical liaison for students in training. Responsible for adhering to all established hospital policies, provides input to update policies, and is a responsible steward of equipment and supplies. He/she promotes teamwork with all members of the healthcare team.

Principle Accountabilities:
1. Performs full spectrum of cardiac echocardiogram testing
-- Trans-thoracic echocardiograms
-- 2-D M-mode, color flow, Doppler
-- Trans-esophageal echocardiograms
-- Recognize need and use contrast agents
-- Stress Echocardiograms
-- Verifies MD orders and documents testing as appropriate
-- Recognizes life-threatening situations, notifies MD

2. Technical director of sonography staff
-- Provides clinical expertise for sonography staff
-- Manages quality improvement pr! ocedures for lab
-- Conducts modality management of echo i! mages
-- Provides equipment/staff input to administration

3. Performs office tasks
-- Performs office tasks as assigned
-- Ability to retrieve reports from computer
-- Ensures computer processing of test results and distribution.
-- Answers phones promptly and politely.

4. Maintains clean, safe environment
-- Cleans and stocks procedure rooms daily
-- Assesses ultrasound equipment for functionality
-- Trouble shooting equipment malfunctions
-- Observes basic infection control practice with patients
-- Observes electrical and fire safety precautions

5. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Experience:

  • Three years current experience in the clinical field including pediatric sonography.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Considerate the specific age-related needs of the patient.
Required Educati! on:
Current and in good standing as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS).

Compensation:Working Conditions:
Employee is required to walk occasionally and sit continuously. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load occasionally. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to use both hands for simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is occasionally exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work. Verbal and cognitive, as well as motor coordination and manual dexterity. Speech, hearing, and near-visual acuity are required. May be needed to work any shift within 0600-1700 Monday â€" Friday and 0700-1300 on Saturdays. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood borne pathogens.

The ! most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occas! ional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.

Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team, including other health care providers, the patient, the patient’s family, and significant others.

Takes direction from: Head Nurse and Medical Director, Cardiology Services
Provides direction to: Students and Cardiac Sonographers
Supervised by: Head Nurse, Cardiology Services
