We are currently in search of a FT & PRN Certified Clinical Perfusionist to support RMC & our Division affiliate hospitals.
Position Summary
:
Under direction of the department director and CV surgeons, operate cardiopulmonary bypass machine to provide cardiopulmonary perfusion during open-heart surgery. Operate cell salvage machines during all necessary surgical procedures. Operate cardiopulmonary support devices (i.e., VAD, IABP) when necessary. Perform laboratory tests necessary during perfusion procedures (i.e., ABG, ACT).
Communicate with CV surgeons, anesthesia personnel and OR staff concerning needs of patients served.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate heart-lung equipment during surgery under direction of physician.
Operate intra-aortic balloon pumps, extracorporeal circulation equipment, and oth! er heart and lung supportive devices to temporarily take over cardiopulmonary functions to facilitate open heart surgery.
Operate heart-lung machines for routine heart surgeries like coronary artery bypass grafting and valve correction or replacement
Administer doctor-prescribed blood product types and medication during open heart surgery.
Monitor vital signs, in-surgery circulatory processes and control the temperature and blood flow of patient.
Mobilize the cardiopulmonary bypass circuits in any open heart surgery
Stay prepared to receive off-duty call to assist in emergency cardiovascular surgeries.
Qualifications
Education: Requires successful completion of a surgical technician or aututransfusion assistant course, associateâs degree in allied health field preferred.
Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications: Knowledge of universal and blood borne pathogen safety p! recautions.
Experience: Minimum one year allied health ! hospital experience; surgery experience preferred.
Administrative Skills: Must be able to document clinical procedures, read handwritten test, understand and apply policies and procedures.
