Position Summary
This position is engaged in the practice of professional nursing that required substantial judgment and knowledge and proficient skills needed to provide safe and therapeutic nursing care to critical patients. This Registered Nurse will share the responsibility with the flight paramedic to provide care during each mission, accurately assessing and dealing with life-threatening situations. The professional nurse must abide by the Nurse Practice! Act, Mercy Life Line Protocol, and hospital policies and proc! edures. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Accredited school of nursing completion, ACLS, PALS, and one of the following: CEN, CCRN, or CFRN. Must have or complete TNCC, NRP, ITLS, HAZMAT and extrication class during first year of service.
Experience: Minimum three years ER or Critical Care experience. Previous flight nurse experience preferred.
Licensure: Current RN licensure for the State of Missouri. Current Arkansas EMT license if working in Branson West.
Certifications: None.
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Expected to understand and effectively apply the nursing process; identification of the health problem, assessment, planning intervention and evaluation to all Life Line clients. The Flight Nurse practices as a team member, individually contribution to the nursing process and nursing goals by: a. Collection of information that is syst! ematic and pertinent,b. Identification and assessment of the problems and the critical patient,c. Formulating a plan of nursing intervention,d. Implementing care, and e.. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention.f. Pre-hospital/hospital environment with emphasis on scene safety, aircraft safety and patient safety. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads. Work in all climatic conditions of the Southwest Missouri Region, and be exposed to the outdoor elements on a daily basis. Must be able to practice excellent job mechanics in a confined area, be
able to deal with stressful situations, make sound and accurate judgments concerning patient care, and adapt to a changing environment with constant interruptions. Physical demands are attached plus push and pull horizontal force up to 40 lbs., grip up to 75 lbs., and pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl occasionally.Equipment Used: Cardiac Mon! itor, Non-Invasive/Invasive BP Monitor, Mechanical Ventilator, CO2 Moni! tor, IABP, Infusion pump, Computer.
