The Director of Facilities, repor! ting to the COO/Associate Administrator, manages and maintains buildings, grounds, utilities, and non-clinical equipment for Research Medical Center and Research Medical Center Brookside campus. The Director facilitates initiation and completion of construction projects, and oversees contract providers of clinical equipment management. Plans, coordinates, directs, and provides effective leadership for all Plant Operations services and programs. The Director of Facilities also plans, coordinates, implements and administers an integrated security and safety program for multiple campuses to ensure a safe environment for all patients, visitors, employees, physicians and students.

Director Facility Operations will also have oversight of security department through the Security Manager. Serves as the Safety Officer and Chair of the Safety Committee. Safety Officer Responsibilities include but are not limited to development implementation and monitoring of the environment! of care program. The environment of care program includes hazard surveillance, incident reporting, security, emergency management, safety education, hazardous materials, life safety, equipment management, and utility management. Authorized to enter the Gamma Knife.

Directly accountable for:
Patient, physician, visitor and staff satisfaction with plant operations and security.

Financial performance of the departments.

Development of a quality, highly motivated and productive staff.

Compliance with all JCAHO and other regulatory requirements

Policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.

Repair and maintenance of all non-clinical equipment (excluding telecommunications) and for maintaining the structural integrity of the hospital building (excluding the Medical Office buildings) and its related facilities, through a systematic preventive and corrective maintenance program.

Mo! nitoring of all utilities and related systems to effectively and effici! ently insure cost containment while providing a comfortable, functional facility for all concerned.

Must complete the Statement of Conditions and plan for improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, BSME, BSEE, Business, Security Management, Industrial Safety, Administration of Justice or related field. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, an associate degree in related field with ten years plant operations management experience, and healthcare safety.

Licensure/Certifications:
Operating engineer’s license or eligible to obtain.

Experience:
A minimum of ten years (10) experience in hospital plant

operations

and

construction

required. Experience in healthcare safety and security preferred. Must have experience with regulatory compliance, conducting life safety and environmental care plans and leading a hospital in a Joint Commission surve! y in these areas. Union experience preferred.

Management Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years in administrative positions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Administrative Skills:
Requires excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to deal with multiple agendas on an ongoing basis.
