DUTIES:
The Supervisory Social Worker to the Mental Health Behavioral Sciences Department at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), you will supervise the clinical staff of nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers and others as assigned. Duties include but are not limited to the following: plan, organize and direct the work of the Outpatient Clinic staff. Assign work to subordinates. Evaluate work performance. Hear and resolve complaints from employees! , referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to higher level supervisor or manager. Identify developmental and training needs of employees. Effect disciplinary measures, such as reprimands, recommending other actions in more serious cases. Develop systems as needed due to procedural changes or expansion of services. Conduct special projects or studies to analyze, evaluate and provide recommendations on programs and issues. Research, assemble and compile information and data, evaluate the results and recommend corrective actions where indicated. Responsible for independent professional functioning and work with a variety of complex cases within the assigned areas. Report to the Chief of Mental Health Behavioral Sciences Department. Has delegated authority for the day-to-day operation of the staff supervised. Plan, coordinate and carry out steps in fact-finding and analysis in accordance with accepted policies and applicable precedents.

Work! Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On-call as need! ed.

Relocation Expenses : Relocation expenses are authorized for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship. Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). COPY OF TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED . Licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. COPY OF LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED .

Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for subordinate staff to qualify for licensure. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a! defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following professional KSAs:

1. Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.

2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation,

negotiation, and monitoring.

3. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers.

4. Ability to provide administrative supervision and clinical supervision, including supervision for social work licensure.
