The Nurse Manager assures the delivery of safe, high quality and cost effective care provided by competent co-workers in the nursing unit. They ensure the efficient utilization of available resources to meet productivity and financial goals. The Nurse Manager works collaboratively and effectively with other administrative personnel, physicians and co-workers throughout the Ministry to enhance communication, share pertinent data and improve processes across the continuum. The Nurse Manager ensures that the unit has appropriate managerial oversight on all shifts and is appropriately staffed to cover patient care needs. The Nurse Manager is proactively involved in patient flow and bed management issues in collaboration with theStaffing Office. They are leaders who inspire a shared vision, demonstrating the value of change and presenting it to co-workers with enthusiasm. The Nurse Manager models the way by setting professional standards, having a positive attitude, and engaging co-workers to become leaders of change. They challenge the current process and enable others to promote change by providing support, mentorship, and guidance to those who provide direct patient care. The Nurse Manager encourages the heart of co-workers by providing both public and private recognition and connecting on a personal level with those that they serve. The Nurse Manager holds direct and indirect care providers accountable for their professional responsibilities and adherence to regulatory guidelines. The Nurse Manager performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Mission, Values and Mercy Service Standards. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Experience: 3-5 years of hospital nursing experience. Licensure: Current RN license with the MO State Board of Nursing. Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probation period.Must have Certification in a specialty of Nursing. Other: Skills, knowledge and abilities: Demonstrates skills in human relations and communication, written verbal, and electronic. Demonstrates clinical competence in patient care delivery. Possesses the ability to assess data and assist personnel in providing appropriate level of care.Performs responsibilities while fulfilling the Philosophy of St. John's Health System in providing care to those served. Makes decision and determines actions using our Mercy Core Values as a guide.Working conditions, mental and physical requirements: Stand, sit and walk most of the time on duty. Meet unit-specific physical demands. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care needs. Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 25 lbs., pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally.Equipment used: Unit-specific patient care equipment, computer, FAX machine, phone, copy machine. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor's of Nursing.
