Provide semi-skilled patient care as directed by a licensed Nurse. This is a full-time position working every other weekend. Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to read, write and follow instructions is necessary. Six months experience involving the direct care of patients in an acute, sub-acute or residential setting, or a combination of class training and experience to equal six months is necessary. Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support or will obtain within three months of hire. The ability to perform heavy lifting and work under stress is necessary. Preferred Qualifications:
Hospital experience, rehab experience. Current basic nursing and rehabilitation procedures, practices and techniques. Detailed Description:
Mental Req?s: Ability to read, write, & communicate both verbally & in writing. Ability to follow oral & written instructions in exact detail. Ability to deal with stress, understand institutional philosophy, goals, policies, procedures & to work in a noisy to quiet environment. Physical Req?s: Ability to move and lift heavy weight (min. 40 lb.). Ability to turn, transfer, ambulate, & assist patients. Ability to move loaded stretchers, wheelchairs, carts & beds. Ability to perform physical assessments using visual, auditory, & tactile senses. Ability to use patient care equipment, i.e., mechanical lifts, bed scales, wheelchairs, etc. Ability to work any shift as assigned. Certifications: BCLS. Perform basic procedures; such as verifying NG tube placement & administering tube feeding, naso-pharyngeal & tracheostomy suctioning, simple sterile dressing changes, and digital stimulation relative to job classification. Take vital signs as directed. Document in medical record as directed by policy. Observe and report (any) deviations from normal conditions. Assist the patient in performing activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, dressing, bowel & bladder regimen, and sleep/rest patterns. Follows patient?s plan of care such as medical or rehabilitation including IRP. Participate in team nursing concept. Assist patient in using adaptive equipment, splints, & in following schedules, including therapy schedules as directed by the team leader. Assist with individual or group activities as directed. Therapeutically redirect and implement interventions to prevent patient outburst. Communicate and provide guest relations. Participate in in-services and staff development as required. Escort patients to appointments and transfers. Take appropriate action to disasters as directed by policy.
