Role Purpose
Ensures that all patients/family members are appropriately greeted, signed in or registered in the department. Provides information to families about the layout of the department and location of needed resources (bathrooms, vending area, etc).
Responsibilities
Greets patients and families when they arrive in the department, providing information to meet their needs.
Interacts with patients and families during their wait for treatment, providing diversion activities such as reading materials and toys.
Checks with families at various stages during their wait for treatment.
Communicates special needs of patients and families or changes in status to department staff.
Monitors and maintains cleanliness and organization of the patient and visitor waiting area.
