We are currently in search of an Assistant CNO/Assistant VP of Nursing
Under general dir! ection, directs assigned hospital nursing activities coinciden! tal with defined hospital policies and objectives. In the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer, represents the Chief Nursing Officer and assumes responsibility for the entire scope of the Chief Nursing Officer's responsibilities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Provides administrative direction for assigned functions from the Chief Nursing Officer (minimum of two). Potential assignments include:
A) Developing and implementing overall nursing care organization plan consistent with hospital policies and objectives.
B) Developing, implementing, and interpreting nursing and patient care policies, objectives and standards for measurement and maintenance of quality nursing care.
C) Developing implementing, and administering nursing services budget and expense control system.
D) Preparing master nursing services staffing plan.
E) Organizing, directing and supervising daily nursing service to assure adequate hospital covera! ge and quality care.
F) Recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and hiring personnel to meet staffing needs.
G) Participating in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the hospital quality assurance program through evaluation of services rendered, quality improvement, audit of medical records, patient visits, and counsel with hospital staff.
H) Maintaining communications with medical and administrative staff through participation in regulatory scheduled staff meetings and involvement on hospital medical services committees.
I) Evaluating long and short range equipment and supply requirements for nursing care by forecasting service levels and quantity of materials on hand.
J) Directs plans, and implements orientation and educational programs to promote staff training and development.
K) Recommending and participating in development of new patient care programs for expansion of nursing care services.
L)! Representing hospital in health care programs and professional organiz! ations or associates to serve in a public relations capacity and to stimulate professional growth.
2) Directs and/or conducts special studies and projects such as research and investigation of regulatory agency policies and procedures as they affect nursing care.
3) Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 Years of executive management or Director experience
EDUCATION: Minimum Masters degree in nursing.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of professional nursing principals and practices and verbal, interpersonal and quantitative skills typically acquired through completion of a Bachelors degree in nursing. (Registered Nurse required)
Knowledge of nurse management and managerial skills typically acquired through 3-5 years of supervisory nursing experience
