Description: St. Luke's Hospital - Missouri is looking of Secretary-Renal & GU-Div 7600 Part Time Days right now, this position will be placed in Missouri. Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the RN, the Secretary is responsible for assisting with management of the patient care unit an! d for performing clerical and receptionist duties, including requisitioning supplies, equipment and service from other departments. The Secretary will be responsible for adhering to Hospital Policies and Nursing Standards. The Secretary performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities:
1. Performs clerical / secretarial duties to include but not limited to:
a. Assembles medical record.
b. Accurately completes admission paperwork, obtains ID bands as needed.
c. Accepts patient reservation for inpatient.
d. Obtains face sheets as requested.
e. Files/checks dictated reports in patient charts.
f. Completes discharge process-computer, housekeeping sheet , and breakdown chart.
g. Print reservation/OR/cath lab list.
h. Copy/request printing of chart for transfer.
i. Performs computer entry as needed.
j. Faxes reports.
k. Enters charges/credits, updates! status and location.
2.Performs receptionist duti! es to include but not limited to:
a. Acknowledges and addresses visitors to the division.
b. Answers telephone using telephone etiquette; takes and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
c. Places call to Doctors.
d. Program and answers call light and relays messages.
e. Facilitate transportation calls.
f. Maintains cleanliness of nursesâ station.
3.Performs division duties to include, but not limited to:
a. During STAT, calls doctors, clergy, SPD supplies, lab, etc.
b. Calls and reports repairs or needs to maintenance.
c. Inventory/order and stock supplies.
d. Handles âlost and foundâ items.
e. Pass/return trays to carts
f. Record refrigerator temperature.
g. Cleans equipment.
h. Assist with patient room cleanliness and organization.
4.Performs other work duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
Experience preferred.

Requirements for job:
1. Basic computer skills required.
2. Verbal and cognitive ability.
3. Clerical and numerical ability.
4. May be needed to work any shift, due to 24 hour per day, 7 days per week operation. May be required to work on other patient care units as needed.
JOB DUTIES REQUIRE YEARLY VALIDATION FOR COMPETENCY and YEARLY COMPLETION OF HOSPITAL SAFETY PROGRAM.
Interaction with patients will take into consideration the specific age related needs of the patient. Nursing divisions may provide patient care to neonates/infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric adults.
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Compensation:Working Conditions:
Employee is required to sit continuously and walk occasionally. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) and medium (21-50 lbs.) load occasionally. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kn! eel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required t! o reach forward and reach overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to use both hands for simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is frequently exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work.
(Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%)
The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team, including other health care providers, the patient, the patients family and significant others.
Takes direction from: Head Nurse, Associate Head Nurse and Registered Nurse
Provides direction to: âNAâ.
Supervised by: Head Nurse
